About
Jamie McCalmont
Jamie McCalmont, now 45, was born and raised in Newmarket and comes from one of the great racing families of the Irish Turf. His grandfather owned The Tetrarch, who exactly 100 years ago, in 1913, was the unbeaten champion 2-year-old of England, and is immortalized as the sire of Mumtaz Mahal, second dam of Nasrullah and third dam of Royal Charger (paternal grandsire of Hail to Reason).
At the age of 20, in 1988, Jamie moved to Southern California, where he worked mainly for Eddie Gregson . After ten years in California, Jamie returned to England. He did stints with the Niarchos family and Charlie Gordon-Watson in London, and launched his own bloodstock agency in 2004. Since then he has also served as Racing Manager for leading Southern California owner Paul Reddam, for whom Jamie has bought two Breeders’ Cup winners, Wilko and Red Rocks, as well as two other Breeders’ Cup Juvenile seconds and four Royal Ascot winners. His experience on the racetrack, combined with his contacts at all levels of the racing and breeding business, make him one of the most respected bloodstock agents of his generation, on both sides of the Atlantic.
"Jamie has given us excellent advise over the last 15 years. We have found his knowledge in all aspects of the bloodstock industry to be first class."
