Perfect Percy

Percy Alleline, a 29,000 GNS Book Three purchase from Tattersalls, made a winning debut tonight at Salisbury, for Mr Jeremy Gompertz and Mrs Ralph Beckett.
In an interesting little maiden, run at a brisk pace, Percy Alleline was the sole newcomer and it showed through the early stages. He had come in for support beforehand, though, and once getting organised from halfway began to motor. Jockey Richard Kingscote wisely got first run on the favourite and was always just holding off that rival near the finish. This was a promising start considering his sire´s stamina influence, although his dam was a 5f winner and trainer Ralph Beckett did say afterwards he was a precocious type.
'That isn´t a surprise as he has shown plenty at home. I think he´s an out-and-out two-year-old and I was hoping he´d learn a bit more than he did here.'
