Diamond Stilettos struts her stuff

Posted on: 6th Mar 2014 by: McCalmont Bloodstock

Diamond Stillettos (Ad Valorem), trained by Doug O'Neil, was sent north to Golden Gate Fields, in order to earn her US diploma. Alex purchased Diamond Stilettos privately, after her maiden win at Tipperary in September. She looks a filly to follow and may head to Keeneland for her next start. Many congratulations to her connections.

the G3 Weld Park S. for previous trainer A. O=Shea.
Seventh in her American debut going 6 1/2 panels on
the sod here Jan. 19, the chestnut was overlooked at
6-1 for this first synthetic attempt. Away well on the
outside, she kept an eye on the leaders in fourth
through glacial early splits. Diamond Stilettos came
flying late in the lane to upset the heavily favored Cast
In Silver (City Zip), a half-sister to GI Belmont S. victor
Palace Malice (Curlin), by 1 3/4 lengths. Sales history:

Bowie Boy (Intikhab), a €32,000 purchase by Jamie at the 2012 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale, had little problem in breaking his maiden this evening, at Kempton. Always to the fore, the three year old colt won readily. Congratulations to owner Ian Heseltine and trainer Ralph Beckett.

Deja Vu

Bird In Love (Byron), a full sister to Birdlover, was purchased privately from her breeder, Mrs Julia Langton, on the back of Birdlover's American exploits last year. Running for the same connections, Bird In Love was making her racecourse debut on the same track that Birdlover had won over some two weeks previous. After breaking well the debutante was a little outpaced to halfway before unleashing a strong late run down the centre of the track. However another newcomer, Diversy Harbor (Curlin) alos finished up with great energy and was three lengths too good for Bird In Love. The second time in a week that we have been done by a Curlin newcomer. Diversy Harbor was subsequently named a TDN Rising Star. How's our luck?!

Bury Pacer denied by TDN Rising Star

Posted on: 21st Jan 2014 by: McCalmont Bloodstock

Bury Pacer (Lawman) had run two solid races for Richard Hannon prior to be purchased privately for Gary and Cecil Barber. Transferred to Doug O'Neil's Santa Anita barn, Bury Pacer was made favourite to make a winning stateside debut. Slowly away Bury Pacer made stealthy headway before finding trouble in running and was a fast finishing third behind the Carla Gaines trained debutant, Texas Ryano (Curlin). The winner was subsequently tabbed a TDN Rising Star and Bury Pacer should not be long in breaking his maiden. He looks set for a lucrative career in America.
