Crystal Lake followed up on his recent debut win at Kempton by running out an impressive winner, on handicap debut, at Ripon. Given a tactically astute ride by Richard Kingscote, the son of Verglas won with something in hand and looks one to keep on the right side of. Well done to connections.

After two days trading at Europe's premier two year old in training sale, the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up, McCalmont Bloodstock were named leading purchasers, with seven horses bought for an average of 265,714 GNS and a total of 1,860,000 GNS.

Crsytal Lake (Verglas) kicked off our 2014 season in the best possible way when running out the convincing winner of the seven furlong maiden at Kempton today. A £20,000 yearling purchase, from Hillwood Stud, at Doncaster in August 2012, Crystal Lake is trained by Ralph Beckett for The Pickford Hill Partnership. Congratulations to all connections.

Rhagori (Exceed And Excel) was purchased at the 2013 Tattersalls December Sale by Alex, on behalf of Mr Michael House. After recent rain in California, Rhagori had been unable to fit in the faster work that trainer Simon Callaghan had hoped for. With that in mind and with regular improvement expected, Rhagori could become a major force to be reckoned with in Southern California.
